CAD/CAM - Making Models
How are the Wax Models Made?
At Hean Studio we have invested in quality small scale CNC milling machines to cut models from wax blocks, tubes and rods.
CAD models can be machined in many different ways depending on the design of the model and the tool accessibility.
By using a combination of creative 3-axis and 4-axis machining strategies, we can mill most models successfully. Machining the inside of a ring or collet for example, or rotating a 3D model around to machine from a variety of different angles.

From fairly large items through to very small…

If a model really cannot be machined due to the nature of its 3D design, then the CAD file can be sent off to be Rapid prototyped in a suitable material that will burn out completely. Either resin, wax layer build, or in the case of larger pieces, built on a Thermojet wax machine.
